Lumen

Privacy-safe automatic and manual time from Lumen

Install app

Overview

Connect a personal Lumen account and select a workspace without exposing application names, window titles, or URLs.

How it works

Each member installs OAuth application credentials supplied by an authorized Lumen owner or admin, then personally authorizes the Lumen account they want to connect. Recent effective segments are cached with interval replacement, and manual changes are written back to Lumen.

Configure

  1. 01Install OAuth application credentials supplied by an authorized Lumen owner or admin, then authorize the Lumen account you want to connect.
  2. 02Select the Lumen workspace whose categories, clients, and effective time you want to use.
  3. 03Optionally map the Kato workspace for owner/admin Team time views.

Why connect Lumen to Kato

The Lumen integration gives Kato a privacy-conscious view of effective time assigned to work. Each teammate authorizes a personal Lumen account, selects the relevant workspace, and can use recent automatic or manual time without bringing sensitive application names, window titles, or visited URLs into Kato.

Privacy-safe time context

Use effective assigned time for planning and review while keeping the detailed application and browsing context that Lumen observes out of the shared Kato workspace.

Personal authorization

Each member connects the Lumen account they are permitted to use rather than sharing one person's credentials across an entire Kato workspace.

Manual corrections flow back

Supported manual time changes can be written back to Lumen, helping the connected systems agree without making Kato the owner of raw automatic tracking data.

Ways teams use Lumen

Task effort review

Compare assigned effective time with the task estimate during a project review and adjust future planning without exposing an individual's detailed computer activity.

Team capacity conversations

Authorized owners and admins can use mapped workspace time as one input when discussing workload, estimates, and delivery patterns with the team.

Time correction

Add or adjust supported manual entries when work needs a clearer assignment, then keep Lumen as the source for the resulting effective-time history.

Lumen integration questions

Does Kato import window titles or URLs from Lumen?

No. The integration is designed around effective assigned time and does not expose application names, window titles, or URLs in the Kato workspace.

Does every teammate authorize separately?

Yes. Members authorize the personal Lumen account they intend to connect. Owner or admin involvement may still be needed to supply application credentials or map team views.

Where does automatic tracking happen?

Lumen remains responsible for automatic tracking and its detailed private context. Kato consumes the effective time needed to support connected work and planning.

How Kato handles connected tools

Kato keeps the original service in charge of its specialist data and permissions. The integration brings the context needed for planning, review, and follow-up into the workspace where your team already manages client and project work. Authorize only the accounts and resources your workspace needs, review access when responsibilities change, and use the provider's own administration tools for detailed configuration.

Before installing any integration, confirm which Kato record should own the relationship and who will review its output. Revisit the connection whenever a client engagement, account owner, or provider permission changes, so the context remains accurate and access stays intentional.
